Alpinia
zerumbet 'variegata', otherwise known as Variegated Shell Ginger, is usually
grown for its foliage rather than its flowers because it will normally only
bloom when there is a very long growing period. The variegation is quite
spectacular and catches your attention even before the bloom does. The soft pink
bloom is very similar to regular shell ginger (Alpinia zerumbet) but the stalks
are usually shorter. |
